I reckon logistically you'd just about need a basically complete but otherwise rutted car just to get everything needed, especially the incidentals.
Then just some sheet steel, buy some of the repair sections, and rip into it.
There are some buggered cars around for not much money.
Rust scares many people, when often theres not much diff fixing a small hole or a big one, you just have more tacks to do.

Another Yellow four door, love it and good on you for giving it another chance.
The model number on the vin plate should tell you what it left the factory as, I'll go hunting for my Spotlight on Escort book and see if I can find those numbers.
There was a couple of RS nose cones for sale on gumtree over here in WA, if they come up again I'll let you know, would be happy to drop them of to send if you want one, likewise any other bits you see over here and need.

Cheers Drewdog, that would be awesome!

I'm going to be on the look out for a complete 4 door, I have gathered a lot of stuff, so my mission for the summer is to get it rolling again, I have a complete front end and a roof cut, that I got with the sale, so I can make a start when I can move it into the shed.

Here's a couple of pics if the kid with the first escort project,

The numbers check out, model 11938 is a 1980 RS sedan, paint code X Lemon Lime.
Its a late one too being April 1980, not sure when they stopped but it can't have been long after that.

Yep concur with that Drewdog.
One thing also re panels etc 9and I know its top shelf and blows any budget) but I think Carl (SMCKA) is stocking all the Magnum panels. Worth knowing whats around anyway.

Also, I'm not sure when the mk2 was ended but my yellow ( lemon lime) van I restored a couple years ago was a late 80 (sept) model, tho I've heard vans kept going till at least the end of 1980.
As with panels, smcka , of he has them in stock or claim an order ahead of time. MST in Wales, RS turbo breakers in Liverpool are also places to look into, prolly best to do a bulk order of possible.
