starting on the diff now, had the engineer around have a plan, balls deep in to it now.
I need to put the car on a machine to measure the chassis rigidity once i finish, i am sure it will be way stronger than factory when im done!
ill get some more photos soon as i have done quote a bit more than the photo suggests.
quite a bit of work in it though, i think about 40-50 hours and i am not making the strut towers, ill make templates and get a friend who has a sheet metal shop to fold that stuff up.
i ordered the Tein coil overs, so they will be here soon, ill need those to check the clearance for the strut towers, the final position is actually within 10mm of the factory Capri position but given the Capri only had the shock load on that point now it has the shock and spring i need to add some reinforcement here, plus the coil over is physically bigger.
I have all the adjustable arms for it so i am sure i can get it all lined up correct, the hieght is the big thing, this will be more an issue at the front.
i think ill tack everything together then start on the front and do the front, then i can take the car off the jig to check the ride heights and suspension arm angles are correct before fully welding, and of course getting the engineer out again.
I may have the final seats lined up i just need to have a measure when i get home that they will fit so will post some pics up, they are cool thought, heated leather :).

where i mounted a vintage air unit in one of my Mk.3's

My Mk.3 v8 (a couple of years ago now) - its moved on since then (ill have to drag it out) - the body work is finished now,yet to be painted - set up with a 302 windsor, supra turbo 5 speed & borg warner disc brake rear end. It was originally same colour as yours!

Nice, very similar build indeed, i thought about putting the vintage aiir unit there but looks like you give up the glove box??

i see you have an Xpack on there, i want to do that too, actually i need to now with the extra track, did you get that from England? was it difficult to fit?

is yours running yet? what sort of power re you making?

did you modify the trans tunnel to fit the supra box? which box is it? the R158? i was thinking about one of these, i hear they are bringing out a new version of the TKO500 which has a smaller body for older car and smoother gear changing at revs, iver heard the supra boxs is a bit agricultural on the shifting.

i am chasing 500hp NA but think i might struggle to get there with only a 5l, i am going 8 throttle bodies and flex fuel but still might be a big ask, will see.

Yes I’ve lost the glove box - just secured the glove box door over the air conditioner so it looks as it was
Yes I scored the x pack kit from the uk - it fit up well - of course a lot of work to the rear quarters including in full panels to the wheel arches.
Have never got to the starting it stage
No modifications to the tunnel - I think it’s an R158 box with Hadfield bell housing.
I’ve obviously done a lot of work on it but have left it sitting. For years

I’ve gone overboard with the Capri project thing - have soooo many projects 😳
It’s a fair way down the list - behind
The injection essex
Cosworth
Electric
Wild plum
Mk.3
Even my RS3100 is gathering dust
Etc.......
.still I’ve sold heaps of other ones I had in an effort to focus on the above

A little update, so it turns out fitting the skyline rear is a little more involved than i thought (i didn't think it would be easy) any how i have the mounts and chassis rails all sorted, there are just a couple of supporting brackets that need some plates welded in and the strut tops.
As it turns out the R33 struts are to long for the Capri as they sit way to high, i bought a full set of Tein coil overs for the S15 (knowing the S15 and R33 use the same rear strut and i am running the S15 front. The fix for this is to use the S13 rear struts as they are 150mm shorter, this does mean i have to sell the R33 rears i have but will make more room in the back and will look much tidier and probably easier to install so that is my next mission.
Then ill be on to the font end which i am actually picking to be easier than the rear, once i have done that i can start on fitting the motor and box which i haven't even sourced yet.
I'm looking for an alloy Windsor block and just working out which gear box to use, i don't want to cut the tunnel so looking at a R154 box, want to convert to hydraulic release bearing and keep it as a single plate street friendly clutch.
I have some AFR heads for it already and a set of 52mm OBX throttle bodies that are on an LS1 manifold, it was at the right price though so even if i cant easily modify the manifold it was cheap for the throttle bodies.
still looking out for seats at the same time as i want to fit these while i am doing the chassis work as i am joining the front and rear rails up and need the seats before i do this so the rail picks up the seat mount as the front and rears don't line up perfectly.
i have seen some nice leather seats come up but the Capri is bloody low, which severely limits the seats that will fit in it, anyway on holiday at the moment and going to look at some fully electric leather recaros out of an Audi A8, very nice, touch and go on height.

Hi Jack,

New here to the forum and I was just enquiring how the project is progressing.

How did you go with fitting the A/C.

Cheers,
Tricky
