I was more thinking from a noise transmission without the rubber bushing etc? Gee 12 years, mines approaching a build time greater than that 🤔

Kmac do not specify anything but roll bars for the early escorts.

This page https://k-mac.com/product-category/ford/  shows 3 large hole & 2 small hole adjustable tops for Escorts

I could not notice any additional noise as a result of front strut conversion.

When I contacted Kmac what they had listed wasn't available. Not sure if things have changed.
I'm using the eccentric types with a pair of gaz golds. No more road noise but they do give a clunk every so often on change of surface. Paved roundabouts etc. There seems to be a little play in the ball joint in the strut top.

Paul, I've recently suffered the same issue with the urethane in my Noltec top mounts failing too in one of my mk1's. It was brought to my attention by the owner of my previous mk2 RS. They were considerably older in the mk2 and had deteriorated worse than mine. Crumbling to dust almost! However Kmac adjustables (with urethane) in my other mk1 are still fine after over 2 decades of my ownership. Obviously it's the Noltec urethane formulation that is 'rubbish', not the general design.
I like the Noltec design for that little bit of isolation the urethane bush gives. Rather than buying something new (at 4 or 500$) both myself & the owner of my old mk2 have had ours recast in 'new' urethane by a fellow up in Gosford NSW who convinced us his stuff would last and was aware of Noltec urethane issues I believe. (the mk2 owner did all the talking & legwork) It was cheap to get done too! Worth the gamble I thought. However I'm yet to see if the new stuff stands the test of time though!
If interested the contact is Graham White Urethanes, 0418241037 and he does a fair amount of specialist car stuff so I'm told.

Thanks for the feedback. I ended up getting a set from Suspension Concepts which do not have any isolation. If not happy with them I may look at repairing my Noltecs through the contact above. Appreciate the info guys. Many thanks.
I failed to mention that when my strut tops failed the car was on axle stands which I assume overloaded the tops in a way they weren’t designed. However I feel this should not have happened as it obviously has identified a failing of the material. Worst thing is when the struts dropped out they fell outwards denting both front guards - the real thing that has pissed me off!! Need to get that repaired now too.

Drewdog, you are correct with the spherical joint being lightly loose. When i worked at Quickco motorsport we never used them and bought local spherical joints that were of better quality, compared to rally design ones that are easy to move about, the ones we used were very tight .
Paul, there is next to no noise or harsh ride with eccentrics tops. Nolathanes can die (perish) after a while, my mk1 escort zetec has dead Nolathanes in the rear bushes and is listing to the left lol... back to motorsport rubber for me , i only use Nolathanes on the front swaybar mount , tramp bars and leaf pads.
Sorry to hear they dented your car , that's gotta suck !

Paul - From an engineering perspective adjustable lower arms are not really an option.

When building my Capri in the '90s I was told by a suspension repair place these were not legal for road use.
Went down the path of KMAC adjustable tops instead.

Yep. That’s my opinion also. New strut tops look ok 👍

Paul Noltec folded up and is now suspension concepts.. Greg runs suspension concepts and i used his solid top mounts which he sells to fix the urathane problem.
