Hi There,

Got a 2L pinto
FR32 Cam
Weber Twin 45DCOE
Extractors & Exhaust

Getting 65kW (90HP ish)
216 N.m of Torque

Is this a reasonable figure or should it be looking a bit higher than that?

Some basic tests found vacuum was all sweet and compression was 9.8, 10.1,10.2,10.4 so should be fine there too

Cheers in advance!

hey matt,
whats up with your graph being ultra smooth... looks like they took about 5 or 6 readings and applied a curve to it. what does your torque curve look like?

maybe give us a few more specs on the engine.
my opinion as i said on the other group is that it is low.

your quoted compressions are in Bar i assume?? or is that a static ratio? if its Bar, that would put them at about 150psi at best, which is definitely on the low side especially with that cam. would have thought more in the region of 200psi (13.7bar) with those cam durations.

Hi Matt,
As Gazz says, we'd need more info on the motor like if ported (hopefully not polished) , valve size, choke size in the carbs, does it have a vernier pulley... and if so did the dyno guy adjust it. The power curve from memory should start to hike at about 3k revs right to at least 7- 8k revs
I've had a FR32 in a pinto and it got a healthy 102kw on twin 40s so there is something not right with yours ..

Torque reading looks too high to me for that cam, or any Pinto cam for that matter; especially given the low power reading (torque being directly related to power output). Something very odd here.

Agreed, a more thorough build spec is needed to ascertain the potential of this engine

I'd say that torque figure is at the rollers, not derived engine torque.
Derived engine torque (Nm) = kW x 9549 / rpm
What porting was done to the head?

Thanks guys been a busy few weeks! Those readings are in Bar. It does have a vernier pulley and has been adjusted.
I purchased the car off someone who had very little idea on what had been done to the car as he had purchased it off someone else and gave up.
For most of that info I’d probably need to pull it apart.
I’m situated in adelaide, do you know of any reputable Escort tuners/engine workers.
I’m kind of stuck as where to go next!

Sorry I misread your message Marty I'll send you a message!

Yeah Mike has been great he's had a great go at it but he's a bit confused as to what's going on with it.
