Checked using the method suggested blue74 appears the back oil plug(ball) is in place.
Any suggestions where I might pickup a genuine oil gallery set of plugs. By my measurement one plug hole is 10mm+ the other 13mm + I purchased a 11mm plug from local engine rebuilder but it seemed to be too big and distorted when I tried to drive it home.
are the genuine ones an odd size?

The 10mm is probably 1/8 NPT and the 13mm 1/4 NPT.

Thanks Jamman  - But not threaded, small welsh plugs.  Did think about taping them but not much wall thickness in the block.

That's good news the rear plug is in, Sorry I can't help with a supplier for welsh plugs however all I would do is ring around various engine re builders and ask them if you are impatient like me!

Just an update, I ordered a set of oil gallery plugs from two different suppliers in Britain via Ebay.   Both sets arrived here in Bris 10 days postage time.   They are installed and oil pressure problem solved, thanks again blue74.

For general information the genuine big plug measures 14.16mm the small one is 11.13mm, the ball measured 11.06 (the 14mm plug that I got from a local engine rebuilder measured 14.37mm and the 11mm measured 11.32mm both of these plugs would not go into the gallery [frozen] without distorting.  I only tried one brand of plugs, there may be others out there that might be closer to the originals)
Many thanks to those who took an interest and made suggestions.
Regards,   Bob
