yeah and my four speed plays up when it warms up, when its cold - cool it shifts perfect up and down but once warmed its hard to go down to third and sometimes almost impossible to down shift to second but up shift is perfect cold and hot, so it a good opportunity to change both and engine in one go,

just one last question does anyone know the NSW rules now a days concerning changing engine numbers on the rego, last engine swap i did was over 20 years ago

hi guys finally picked up my new engine, as shown in the pics it came from a MK1 coupe, i have a few question i would like to ask if you guys don't mind answering, first question is being from a mark 1 gearbox, will my mk 2 Van one piece tailshaft fix the box or do i have to get a mk 1 tailshaft to suit,

second question is will the speedo drive from my mk 2 box fit the mk 1 box

lastly what everyone opinion on getting the old engine box out? keep together and shoe horn out or drop the box then just lift the engine out, main issue is the only spot i can do it is on my drive way and its slopes sidewards which im thinking with the weight on the engine crank it might roll down the slope while trying to pull strait back, which is the reason im thinking just lifting the engine and push the van back,,,,, thoughts?

Hi Griezy,
There is a weber specialist in Melbourne, hit up Mr Google, can't remember off the top of my head, I got a twin throttle cable setup off him when I had webers on mine.  Len

hi guys thanks for all your replies, i'm still having trouble finding the correct cable for my twin weber set up which has a single cable linkage set up and to have a ball cup on the other end for the mark 2 escort accelerator that has the ball-cup set up

also what do i do with the dizzy vacuum? as the standard updraft weber has the vacuum on the base of the carbie, but these sidedrafts webers do not have any connection for the dizzy vacuum, do i use one of these split vacuum trees  https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Classic-Performance-CLPIN38RS-Manifold-Vacuum-Tee-Fitting-Steel-3-8-NPT/232475772278?hash=item3620a2c576:g:D0wAAOSwq8FbO158 to put it on the mainfold where the brake vacuum go? would the thread fit into the thread that is already in the manifold?

thanks guys

A modified engine doesn't need dizzy vacuum. Do you have a twin cable setup ready or trying to adapt a cable.? I've use MTB cables before but need a block made to locate on the pedal, or drill your pedal to take the new cable , there's a few ways about it..
