Hi,
Can anyone confirm what the rear brake cylinder diameter is for a Mk2 Escort? Both Gregory's and Ford manuals say 17.8mm, but some on-line part catalogs say 19.05mm, such as Burton's for the RS2000. I'm of course leaning to the 17.8mm, but have a nagging suspicion about whether it is actually correct, so I thought I'd check here first.
Thanks.

Aus. Mk2's, including RS2000, are 3/4" (19.05mm).
I put 13/16" (20.64mm) in my Mk2. They were new PBR cylinders listed for a 1975/76 1.3L model.
That gives 17% more piston area!

Aus. RS2000's have the same rear cylinders & drums as the standard 2L.
My previous post should have said "Aus. 2Litre Mk2's, including RS2000's, are 3/4" (19.05mm)
I don't know about the 1.6 Mk2.

So even Ford is inconsistent (between their repair manual and the microfiche). I also thought all Mk2s used the same diff and rear brakes; at least by mid-77 when the 2000cc engines were added to the range. No wonder I'm confused.

Protex Australia catalogues are usually reliable: http://www.protexparts.com.au/catalogue/ & shows:

MK11 rear cyls - 17.85mm for all 1.6L, & 19.05mm for all 2L
