Madcow  :-"I am very curious on why they have different id tags  (typ ?/01/s on drivers seat) (typ 203 passenger) Possibly one aftermarket one original?"

Guessing two part numbers are for Left & Right versions, so that tilt and recliner knobs are towards the B pillars?

Or different production batches -who knows how they were acquired or how long that took.

There should be a manufacture date stenciled on the underside of the seat on the foam.
The seat will need to be removed and turned upside down to see the stamp.

PS: Great to see the Escort boys are still alive and kicking on the forum.  :)

I think they are genuine Scheels, but aftermarket. Here's an aftermarket ad from the 70s - note the placement of the logo. They did them in black too, but I used this image because it is clearer.

Nice rack too!

I wasn't looking at the logo

OK so i pulled the passenger seat out found a bit more uglyness (not liking the cut and reweld job on the rails) i did find a remnant of an ink stamp of course now unreadable. Drivers seat has had a piece of ply board put in over the foam i would assume someone did this to take out the sag.
Does anyone have some rails they wish to part with?

Doubt the engineer will be fond of the modifications to the seat rails.

Escort Ghia mounts would probably be the easiest to source and are same as RS/ Scheel. I'll keep an eye out on this side of the country (WA) and let you know if any come up.
The ply board is an interesting fix for the sag, they all do it, I once pitted mine with a phone book under there, lol the examiner was none the wiser.

Hi, I see this is a really old conversation that I've come across which still leaves me  bewildered.
1/My black and white question is: should a 10/79 RS2000 have the side lever or the base lever ?
2/Next is can someone confirm the rear seat pattern in the images is correct and the front seat pattern is a replacement aftermarket
3/ Is the bottom loop where the seat runners bolt on is correct for this Date of Manufacture or should the runners be on the base of the seat ?

1/ Sounds right my 1980 sedan has the tilt at the base.

2/Yes rear seat is correct Beta cloth, front is a re-trim.

3/All good there, seat frame - loop bolts to seat runner
