I have a pinto turbo going into MK2 Escort coupe. I want to use a high performance 2 row radiator core (brass & copper) , it's a Redback brand and they're reputed to be just as good as a triple row core. This will allow more room for the intercooler.

I have done lots of measuring and there is some room behind the grille to squeeze an intercooler in but it can't be more than 50mm thick if I plan on keeping the stock radiator position. ALSO, I'm retaining the factory brake booster and bracket so the Airtec/ Radtec products will not fit.

Ideal dimensions would be 400mm wide, 200mm high and as mentioned 50mm thick. This means a custom radiator because all other options, off the shelf (ebay etc) are either too thick or too small (pressure drop)

Leaning towards this one, Delta design,50mm thick but not very high which may cause substantial pressure drop.

Can anyone post up some pictures to show how they went about fitting an intercooler with factory radiator & brake booster ??

Firstly, if your car is primarily a street car why fit an intercooler?
 
If space is an issue have you thought about fitting a charge cooler with ducting between the cam cover and the inlet manifold.

I have looked at the PWR barrel cooler kits. Plenty of room for one under the inlet manifold but the kit is a couple of grand and being water/air cooling will be a bit more complicated to install. The gap between motor and radiator is tight so getting the pipe from turbo to the barrel then to the inlet may prove more difficult than fitting an air to air.

Sorry to come in late after you have purchased, but for anyone else interest I just finished going through this process too. With the limited space we could only use a 50mm thick intercooler and couldn't find one anywhere in the country to the size we wanted.
 
In the end I ordered an intercooler core from Bell Intercoolers in the USA http://bellintercoolers.com/ All their cores are bar & plate style which was exactly what we wanted. The fabricator made his own tanks to suit our setup.
 
Best to ring them direct when ordering, I rang them around 4 in the morning which was around midday their time. Very good service, prices similar to what we pay here but freight was a killer.

Hayden. I have started looking at fitment of radiator and A to A intercooler in the front of the MK2 Escort.
(I got spoilt with the RS as there is a mile of room behind the nose cone)
I have an old radiator which is a great side tank 4 core brass unit at 75mm thick. The intercooler is some 100mm thick (it was designed to go behind an RS nose cone). There ain't no way the two will go together and then to even think a thermo fan somewhere?
 
I really don't want to go down the path of a water cooled intercooler so I am looking at mounting the intercooler lower down. As its a track car being built to sport sedan (Group 3D) specs I have to comply with, 'The front bumper and grill shall retain its original appearance and location in relation to the unmodified area of the coachwork down to the horizontal centreline of the front wheel hub.' This could be an issue I will try to get some clarification on the rule.
 
Might have to look at an alternative (custom) intercooler?
