I have an opportunity to purchase twin webers 40s i believe that have been removed from an old Alfa 105. The gentlemen works in an auto parts shop and beleives they are fine. Of course how are we to know. the question is
1. My car is a 2L slightly worked engine used for street only, with a 32/36 Weber. Will the twin carbis make a considerable difference over the 32/36, are they worth the headache that i think i will have with tunning etc
 
2. He wants $400 for both, i think that is pretty reasonable any thoughts?

if they are an early style non-emission carbs then go for it, they are fairly east to tune. cant imagine them being that cheap though...
if they are emissions type then give it a swerve. you will definitely have a headache with them.
do a google to find out how to identify them as emissions/non-emissions.

$400 is cheap, obviously you will be up for the cost of a suitable manifold. If set up properly they shouldn't overwhelm the engine, get your choke and venturi sizes properly worked out.  Get the carbs stripped and cleaned and put in kits if they have not been touched or stored for while, they don't like dirt!

If they're from an old alfa 105 they will be pre emission being 1970 vintage. ... While ur there grab the diff as they just about bolt up to escort... Same width ,same stud(4x108) and the tailshaft flange matches up. Once the Alfa bkts are removed , Weld on leaf spring platforms and your away.. did i mention disk brake and possibly LSD !

You blokes are not helping. I was hoping you would talk me out of it now with the diff....i will spend more money.....i just cant help myself.
