Just wondering if anyone has looked at putting one of these into an escort?

Being rear wheel drive to start with has all the efi hardware facing in the right direction

If these can be bolted in same as others then I'll buy one of these from wreckers for project

If my engineer says it can be done legally when he comes to get an overview of what i want to do then i will keep it well documented on here for future reference for others

Just touching base on this project, still in planning stages for engineer to look over
 
Has anyone bought parts from RetroFord in the UK?
 
Wondering what fitment is like etc
 
Mainly their Xmember with fitted mounts for Duratec conversion, engine mounts, cranked steering arms and sump

Seems like a fair few people talk about the quality of the retro ford products. I have used their products (through burtons) and thought they were good.
I am keen to see how you go with this as I have had a similar thought for the next one.
The motors seems to have a decent price tag but the base power I think looks good.
What size ecoboost are you planning?

I'm just looking at using the 2.0 version, you can go upto just over 2.3L according to Qld Transport guidelines for the weight of these cars with boosted motors but i think they will look more favourably if you don't push everything to the limit
 
Will have to do some more searching, i know some people bought some Xmembers from UK and fit had lot to be desired, just not sure who made them
 
Have also considered just putting a N/A Duratec in running quad throttle bodies etc but i like the sound of having a boosted Esky

Did you get a chance to talk to your engineer about other requirements in terms of brakes, diff etc

I have a Duratec in my Mk1 using the Retro ford kit (WCXM, water rail, T9 bell housing). All were a good fit.

There is a build thread on Turbosport of a guy fitting a Ecoboost into a lotus trying to use the Duratec adaption parts. SBD have also been playing with the Ecoboost too with there ECU with some impressive results.

Using there kit, did you have any issues with clearance to the firewall? Ie water rail hitting firewall?

Not yet, the engineer I'm looking at costs around 500 to come liase with you whilst actually looking at your project and going over your plans, so my plan is to decipher the Qld Transport rulings to the best of my ability and have a complete game plan for him to go over and tweak if need be

I know i need to run all the factory emission system from donor vehicle to comply with EPA then i need to upgrade brakes to meet same power/weight ratio of braking force as donor vehicle i believe. Then comes the suspension and...... you get the idea lol
