Would love to do a Zetec conversion to myMk2 but does anyone have some definitive info on getting it registered in SA?

Can only say for N.SW. 2.L engine ok but has more than 20% more power than pinto thus engineering and EPA is required also the brakes need to be upgraded and any other component like engine & gearbox mounts need engineering too. I would think SA would be very close to this also. EPA is a hard one as the EFI Zetec system wont fit in the Escort thus with twin TB EPA pollution test must be done this totalled me over $800 in Dyno time and uro 5 cat. But it all can be done if you have a good engineer, time & cash. E85 fuel might be a better way but not sure as mine runs on 98.

Any update on these conversion parts? I am about to do my mk1

I just bought a bda rocker cover, oil cap and leads for a total of about $900 including freight. One ten minute phone call, really easy and great to deal with AU and NZ don't have to pay VAT. So all you pay is advertised price from there website

I am just about to order my ZETEC parts from the USA, sux last costing was $4850 now close to $7000 the OZ dollar fell through the floor hope the free trade agreement includes car parts too so I don't have to pay tax as well.!!!!.

hey nukem, what sites are you ordering zetec parts from the states? i am making a list but have only been looking at the UK so great to have a comparison...

You are spot on there... Aussie dollar is really a pain. Should have done my escort build a few years ago. The difference in cost of parts would be scary... Oh for $USD parity...

Yes waited too long too. So total cost for engine parts will top $7000 but it is the last item required to finish the project by xmas.
