GTV6
Thanks Terry.  Its Aus made with matching numbers, I guess the previous owners did the upgrade.  I've had it over 20 years and thought it should be 3.09, never knew it shouldnt be and never knew it had been changed.

Hi all and welcome to Spring(means more driving in dry weather!),

1/     am I dreaming, or where did I imagine hearing about these "last-run eleven GTV6" having which parts of the Shell or Steering or Suspension reinforced with heavier components or gussets ?

2/     was a rear ext Louvre or internal venetians EVER an option on our Mk1 Capris ?

regards.............Bernie

Hi Bernie, up here in sunny qld the best driving weather is between  april and october, after that i need air conditioning.
All v6 shells have extra braces compared to the 4 cyl. shells. I think this is where the confusion is coming from.
I dont think louvres or venetians were an factory option but they were a popular mod of the day probably because of the afore mentioned lack of air con, also if you were a young bloke with the aunger louvres you were super cool ha ha.
Venetians not so much.

Thanks a mill' Ron for putting me straight.  I often wonder if anyone has written a Book on ALL the PRECISE info on ALL Capris, or at least ALL the Mk 1, with ALL the idiosyncrasies and changes that applied to ALL the variants.
Surely between all the countries that got them, there would be enough surviving to justify such a Book?...maybe?
Kind regards
Bernie

Hi I have sent of a request to Ford for all the info and they will be getting back to me. My number is not on the list but was built Aug 72, they have said it was Red Pepper with a close ratio gearbox over the phone. So seems possible but unlikely. As it has no Compliance plate i don't have any other info but when I get the letter from Ford will let you all know. Keith

Hi Beevee,

Love the Capri what a find, my first car was a wild plum gtv6 Capri... still kicking myself for selling it. Had kids on the way & wife giving me the "we have no room for that "pink" car". Thought you guys on the forum would like to see some old photos. Should have some more somewhere I will post later if I track them down
It was a CK17MA 03/72 4 Speed Saddle Trim car, remember saving my part time job money for a couple of years to buy this for $6500 which was fair bit in 88 I thought.
Pretty sure that photo was taken around 1988, original paint, motor & interior as far I was aware.
Still have those number plates at home, guessing they may be around 72 circa?
Had these wild ideas of putting a 289 in it when I was 17 y/o, thankfully I never did... the things you did when you're young & stupid!!
Cheers Jon
