HI EVERYONE AND HAPPY NEW YEAR ! (special hello to Glenn, Don and John)
This is my first post since I recently acquired a 1972 GTV6 WILD PLUM original Capri in original condition except for new n/g exhaust and n/g chromies..............everything else is 100% Factory.
Has been laying in a shed since 2008, but started first pop (after due diligence performed)*, and let me drive her 200kms home without a single incident !.....while I passed 6 or 7 "newish" cars broken down being helped by RACV or friends ! ...........all the gauges as well as the Smiths clock worked flawlessly. Had no idea I was buying such a rare delight of a car, till I drove it 200kms home, and then asked "around" and so many shaking their head in disbelief........... Put the Capri on the hoist for a good check over, and to my surprise, the only rust is a 10c coin size hole near RH drivers door hinge and "u/paint bubbles" in guard nearby, and guard wells behind rear tyres. I realise I'll find more when and if I pull vehicle apart, but this is the only obvious bits I can find, which aint bad for over 40 years!...........Having the Yellow/Black decal on A/f and Firewall warning of 165HP, and built in Nov 1972, I welcome any member to suggest ways to prove that this car is or isn't one of the "ELEVEN" specials of which only a few have been accounted for......................cheers, Bernie
