Hello all, thought I'd start posting some pics of my RS project, only two so far, computers playing silly buggers so I'll try to put some more up later.
I'm about two years into it. All the bits missing for the car have been replaced or claened and put in boxes. I'm building it down so when it's painted it'll go back together straight away. Got lots of goodies, like the wheels, factory tint windows, FM radio etc.
Interiors all done, as with exterior fittings, collecting parts for the engine now.
Wiring was finished off this weekend, ran the engine bay loom down the chassis rail which wasn't as hard as I thought and retaped that and the rear tail light etc loom.
A freinds coming around to do the welding over the next few weeks, bodies not bad at all, just a bit of rust in the floors, around windscreen and one rear arch. It's great to be actually working on the car itself, past couple of years it's just sat while I collect parts.
Stay tuned.............

Managed one more, finding a few old parts tags in the loom, the papers threatening to fall apart as I look at it so covering it in wrapping tape for the sake of keeping it............

Ticked a few more jobs off the list this week, finishing the last of my boot items, welded a new support to the factory a/c battery box, cover was good so its been cleaned, bagged and tagged. Dug out another odd part I saved from the back of a wreck a few years ago, an original goodyear 175 tyre, like new, but not 'usable' pretty delicate, gently got it off the rim at work, will tube it and use it as a boot ornament....
Starting engine bay, port matched the stock inlet manifold, took the casting marks off the outside and sanded it smooth until my fingers bled
Now for the fun part, paint the battery box and buff/ polish the manifold this weekend...............

Trying to upload a few more pics without much luck, honestly I'd rather be working on the car than learning how to use this silly machine
Anyway this is the battery box from a factory a/c unit, welded the supports now, painting it today.......

Now I'm cooking, the girly heard me swearing and has helped out, she's a keeper
Heres the manifold ready for it's final stint on the buffing wheel, internally not too much has been done, it's had the castings taken out and lightly polished, top and bottom have been port matched. Outside all the castings have been ground off, sharp edges rounded off and all the stipple texture has been sanded smooth. Has been quite a rewarding job, alloys a great material to work with......

Cheers SaggaRS checked out your thread, what a beauty, motivates me even more......
Finished the battery box off this morn, my weldings getting better but leaving the body to my mate, he does it for a living. All painted now, ready to be bagged and tagged, that was the last item I had to do to finish the boot so it's up front to the engine bay now, first job will be to start welding and smoothing, lucky the bulkhead is ok. Anyway packed up now so I'll get back into it next week............

This post will be titled "The Damage I Did'
Spent the last couple of weekends welding the rear of the car, it was closest to the welder  Mainly filling holes I'd drilled for the cage and fueling when it was hotrod. Bit of rust in the corner of the windows and one of the arches, fixed the fuel cap gap and replaced all of the little tabs for the wiring, the old ones were pretty wobbly. I'll test fit the lights and bumpers again next weekend and move onto the engine bay............

Another good saturday at it, my mates started welding up front now, mainly damage that I did, hole from a battery cut off repaired, few drill holes in the inner wing done and new tabs to hold the wiring loom to the chassis rail.
I've been in the back still, boot gaps looking good, bumper mounts needed a bit of tweaking but fit nicely now, found and trimmed down some rubber stops for the number plate holder and fitted the rear loom up again. Checking the lights this week, slow work but I want to get it right for the third and final time...........
