That's the cable you want.  You can just cut to the length you need.

Here are the filters I used - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Air-Filter-all-Motorcycle-48mm-Engine-Inlet-/250829620808?pt=AU_Motorcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a669c4648

Should be all underway, I will likely weld up the manifold on the bathurst weekend, almost got my hands on a spare pinto head to use as a jig so that should work out well, from there it should be all go :)
Cant wait, and cheers for all your help Matt.
Ill see if  I can get plenty of pics and doco for others who wish to do this mod.

cool,

Good luck, take you time and make sure you don;t overheat the metal and warp the manifold.

For the choke just get a cheap one off ebay bu you'll need another one of the solderless nipples to locate it onto the carbs.

Well I've got most of everything on the table now for this mod. The flange and runners turned up from UK and this looks like it will be tricky as I have 2 straight runners and 2 S bends. The straights should be placed in the middle and I will need to cut some pretty severe angles on them, but I'll cross that next week when I get to it.

One thing I came across when disassembling the carbies was the right one, the spring that holds the needle down through the diaphragm is different to the rest, slightly higher tension than the others. Original obviously lost during the last service. Do you think this will this cause any problems?

I'm going to head out today and drill the jets out too, and a question, do you step up gradually through drill sizes or just go for it with the 1.8mm?

Cheers,

Hey Mate,

Idealy they'd all be the same springs.  You should be able to get some new ones somewhere pretty cheap I'd say.

If you plan on getting the car dyno'd (and I stress you should) then I'd get the dude to drill them for you as this way you will have it sorted out perfect rather than guessing as I did.  It will still run with standard jets to get you to the tuners.

Are the needles adjustable?  If so put them on the middle setting to get you going.

I eneded up ordering a Bogg Bros Manifold as I wanted one without the vacuum and coolant takeoffs.  Here's a couple of pic of their work.  Pretty sexy!

Looks good as Matt, how much did it cost you delivered?
And skipping the vacuum, how are you doing the brake booster?

Cheers,

About $375 delivered.

I am using the M/C from a Datsun 120Y so no booster needed.

New Bogg Bros manifold turned up today.  It is a very nice bit of kit indeed.

The manifold has been machined to fit the orginal R1 mounting rubbers thus ensuring the carbs never fall off.

Keen to see if pic works : Boggs bros manifold turned up today, what a top lookin bit of kit.. Anyways I still need to drill out main jets but everything else should be sweet...
Matt75: this will probably all be happening in the next couple of weekends, I have a throttle cable, choke cable, I'll drill jets to 1.6mm, going to initially try the mechanical fuel pump with a regulator, failing that use the one I bought off you, slap it on and go for gold... Do you have any other advice for getting these running well enough for driving around town before dynoing?
