Manifold setup ordered from ebay pepperperformance as mentioned earlier in the thread, $95GBP shipped with runners to suit the R1... Just gotta weld it up and enjoy now :) I had to contact the bloke and give credit card details over the phone to avoid ebay/VAT fees, but it worked out well... Ill grab some pics when they arrive.

Matt,

How decent was the power increase on the dyno with the new carbs?
Also does your heater still work? I live in Canberra :)

Hey Mate,

Not 100% sure on the power figures as i wasn;t after power just a proper tune.

Compared to the single webber i can say the power comes in from very low revs with no hesitation and pulls hard up to 5k.

They sound awesome too.

For the heater, as per the pic above, you are just taking the coolant from the block under cylinder 4 as opposed to taking it from the cylinder head.  Heater works great.

I read a thread somewhere that this setup promotes better flow.

Have you got a pump yet?  I have one from a CBR 900 if you need one.

Does the CBR900 pump have the connector for the sensor to turn the pump off?

There is no sensor as such.  They are inertia pumps and it's all internal but yes it will turn off when not required and pump as much fuel as is needed.

Sounds good Matt, how much are you looking to sell for with postage to Canberra?

How does $55 inc postage sound?

I also have some flouro lined silicone intake runners if you need them too.

Sounds good Matt, I'll have to talk later in the week, but certainly by Saturday. I'll PM from here...

Stopped off today and saw the mechanic and he said drop the carbs off, he will clean them out, drill the main jets to 1.6mm and prepare them for use... He is ready to get the car into running well condition and I will investigate dynoing later on this year.

The reason I asked if the fuel pump connects is that there is a 3 pin electronic connector on the carbies... Any idea what that is for?

Cheers,

Rob

Hi Mate, I went 1.8mm on the main jets and my engine is pretty standard so you may want to go a bit bigger than 1.6.

My guy installed a bung into the bottom of the extractors so he could screw in a o2 sensor and read the air mixtures and then tune the carbies accordingly.

The 3 pin dealie is the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor).  Very handy if you plan to go with an electronic management system in the future like Megajolt, Megasquirt etc.

PM me and we can sort out postage and payment.

Hopefully manifold turns up this week, I need to get onto ordering the throttle cable, from SMCKA there is this:
Accelerator cable Escort 2 side draught/injection
$35.00
Which looks similar to the one used in your pic, is that right?

I'm tempted to run the velocity stacks for a bit of time too whilst I save some cash for the pipercross filter setup, but still need to ask where did you get your mini pod filters from?

Cheers,

Rob
