As the title suggests, looking for options for a new clutch.

What have you used, or had built to suit 200-250hp turbo with a std 4sp or type 9 box?

I had my last clutch built in Perth by a guy that called himself autoclutch, but he's closed down now. It was just a heavy duty pressure plate with a bonded and riveted (non-puck) friction plate and lasted about 3 years of use.

Cheers

Hi, here in Adelaide is a clutch manufacturing factory called ACS , they do special order kits and appear to work quite well. I have a 6puk in my mk2 escort which is rated at 320ftlbs, it is very roadable , it cost about $465 some 7yrs ago. Another option is try from usa (Ford Pinto1972) which is the same clutch as Escort, I found a 6puk for Mk2 Escort for only $220+$48 postage !

Hi Joey,

Yep, finally got hold of them this week and have placed an order. I have gone for an organic bonded friction plate for niceness to the gearbox and as heavy as they can go on the pressure plate with the standard style (650kg clamping force).

The guy I spoke to said I could go more clamping force with a "better" cover (pressure plate) although it would be $200 more expensive.

There was also 4 and 6 puck ceramic options, but since they tend to "grab" more than the organic, I've decided to leave these alone for the moment. If the organic doesnt hold up, then I might have to bite the bullet and go for a puck friction plate.

RRP on it is $480 including a thrust bearing. Have to buy through a reseller - they wont sell direct.

Joey,

Where did you get the puck clutch from, and how much power is it holding (running R-comp's too I guess?).
