For those in the racing circles is there a general rule when fitting a tailshaft hoop to have it a certain measurement back from front uni joint?

Doesn't look like it would matter too much but I'm fitting it this arvo so thought I may aswell ask.

I use a loop where the split tail shaft would bolt up.

"so constructed that any longitudinal propeller shaft shall be protected from striking the ground"

Doesn't give ya much to go on, but a tail shaft hoop of some sort is required.

Started with this:




Modified into this:









I've welded it all together so the only way to remove it is to undo tailshaft at the diff and slide it off.
I then re-inforced the mount through floor with a big plate on topside to spread the load if the worst was to happen.

Looks good and sound. Single piece shaft? What type are you using? I'm wanting to go single, I think I still have the mkI shaft you gave me.
