I have not long ago bought myself a 105e anglia with quite a bit of rust and a 1300 x-flow. i've started to remove the rust and my plan for the car is to build myself a comfortable reliable every day car. i've always been a fan of fuel injection and twin cam engines so im planning to put in a 2 litre zetec. at this stage i'm thinking i will go with a celica 5 speed gearbox but am not sure what i'm going to do (if anything) with the rearend. i would like to convert it to disc brakes and maybe rack and pinion steering. I'm undecided whether i will go for a different ecu i.e megasquirt or just use the factory computer.

Join a forum in the UK called Retro-Rides. There are some nice little 105E's on that and the owners are very helpful with their advice.

alright, been a while since ive posted.

The little anglia is coming along slowly...

I've patched up both rear quaters, inner & outer. Patched the firewall and below the gutter.

i have bought a donor car which has alot of good chrome, as well as a bunch of good doors to pick from and quater windows as mine were stuffed.

my car had been in a prang at some stage and a poor repair done to the front left quater, so i cut it off to replace with a patch from the other car, and of course with old fords the a-pillar was rusting, so i have repaired that and am about to start refitting the quater.

as far as mechanicals go i have bought a bunch of stuff

i bought some cortina struts and arms etc which will be converted to coil-overs and altered to fit the anglias geometry.

i got a sierra 5 speed from a mk1 cortina, it had a 2.0litre ohc engine bolted to it which is no good in the anglia (too long) so it will go back on trademe, along with the 1300 which came out of the 105e.

i wanted 4 wheel discs so i have got an lsd falcon diff which will get shortened up to fit and modified to suit the leaves.

i'm trying to find a really cheap, possibly broken, zetec engine for a mock-up.

project will probably get put on hold for a while as i am going to uni in 2 weeks [8~2]

i'll try and post some pics soon but there is still alot of work, have to repair the rear chassis rail behind the bumper and the front airdam and a couple of small holes in the floor, then all the modifications to the mechanical gear... its a long road ahead...

they can be made to fit but require quite a bit of modifications to the firewall. i don't want to modify it too far, for my running gear i will need to make the tunnel bigger for the gearbox and a small cut to the firewall for the zetec water rail.

I love the internet, makes it easy to learn from other peoples mistakes!!

front quarter cut out

rear quarters and gutter rail after my repair (keep in mind this is my first project so i am learning as i go!)

started grinding back the paint off the rear chassis rail yesterday and it just started getting worse and worse, so i am going to cut off the whole rail and fold up a new one at work

quarter panel patch, sitting in place. pretty good fit if i may say so myself

donor car, has lots of good chrome, two sets of doors and many interior parts im missing but the chassis is totally shot

Yeeha, uni holidays so i get to bump my topic back up.

Started working on the car again today, got the patch panel for the fender welded in place tonight.

tomorrow im going to head off to the wreckers and see if i can pick up a Zetec engine that they have with a broken timing belt, this will be the engine i use for mocking everything up as i wont be able to afford a runner for a while yet.

I have also been doing a bit of web/trademe sufring while i;ve been away, and im thinking that i will bolt up an SC14 supercharger to the zetec to give it a bit more of a kick.

Photos to follow when i find my camera charger!!!
