Hi all
Can anyone tell me what type of lights my RS has and wheres the best place to replace them ( rare spares?)
I think some of them are originals and 1 has the name autopal on it. One is half filled with water! the other has cracked glass etc. I noticed H7 on one of the lamps

Sealed beams. 5 3/4 inch diameter.
While your playing with them.
Get an auto sparky to make all the headlights work at high beam.

On my old RS i fitted Cibie high beam and Corello mains...sourced from an AlfaSud Ti and Fiat 132 or something. All 5.75in regular light size.
, As Maxrs did is to hook all lamps to go high beam , must fit a relay or you will melt things like switches and loom..

in the olden days we used to run these Hella 100w aircraft landing lights as the high beams http://db.hella.com.au/cgi-bin/catalogue.pl?flcmd=preview&flmaint=851 and hi/low beams on the outside http://db.hella.com.au/cgi-bin/catalogue.pl?flcmd=preview&flmaint=823.
and when you wire them in asthe other guys have said use a relay on the drivinglights
cheers Ted

To be honest, I dont use high beam/driving lights ever. Even when I drive down to jindabyne at night I rarely use them as I find it a hassle to have to keep dimming them every time a car comes the other way and my RS will be a sunday car, not any everyday car so....... I also checked and the lights are H4 not H7's as I earlier thought. I really just want the easist straight forward swap. Standard is fine by me.

As someone who has just put all new lights in an RS I would suggest you get along to your local auto sparky and have him order the correct parts. Narva still do them but there are probably others as well.

You cant use a cheapy generic light as the buckets the RS lights sit in are all different and the correct lamps have the tags in the correct place to suit. ie the main lamps and the driving (high beam) lamps are paired with the tags on the back of the lamp facing the same way The correct part no also has the required seperate park light holder that pushes in the back of the main beams.

I still have the boxes here somewhere if you need the part numbers.

Cheers
