There are a couple of other issues....
The big auto tunnel doesn't leave you any room down the left hand side of the clutch pedal to rest your foot. I know - I did a tunnel conversion in 1984 and still compete in the car regularly!
You will need to weld the clutch sleeve bracket into the correct location on the firewall. And reinforce it as well.
And the motor will never be as crisp as an original manual due to the lower compression ratio - unless you give it a birthday and a new set of pistons.
And here is a must!! Replace the welsh plug at the rear of the spline on the drive yoke and use liberal amounts of silicone to seal it. Nearly always when we get an Escort in with a leaky extension housing seal it is actually the welsh plug come loose or leaking.
