I got castrol edge oil last time can't remember which one i should get its good stuff but due for a change.

do i want the 5w-40 or 25w-50? [B)]

If you put 5w oil in a pinto it will most likely rattle its brains out and spurt oil from every possible orifice!

I use the Edge 25w50

Don't believe that.
The first no. with the W is the winter viscosity rating. 'W' stands for winter , not weight, & the lower the number, the quicker the oil flows at start up. The second no. is the important one - weight of oil at 100 degC (nominal operating temp)
Remember, there is no relationship between the two numbers. 0W & 5W oils are much heavier at room temp than even /60 & /70 weight oils at operating temp.

There is a large viscosity range for any particular oil weight (ie /50) so best to check viscosity cst at 100 degC on spec sheets
