Look at this this way! Build a strong bottom end and then in a few years you could turbo it and really have some fun!!!

Joey i didn't get the chambers measured as i wasn't racing or fighting every last drop of power! The compression gauge was on 265/265/260/265 respectively. Astd Pinto sits on 140to 155? Also had to mark spark plugs so the electrode sit above not below or the piston will shut the gap!!

I'll have possibly 1 more Pinto to build(std) and thats it...finisht, meaning all stocks of my pinto's will be selled on.
Moving on/up to Zetecs, more power, easier, lighter, cheaper, for me anyway

don't want to get off topic but i think it's too easy to measure the chamber to get the right compression ratio to match what cam your running, it's not about going for every drop of hp but aiming for 11:1 and not ending up with 12:1 +,not to mention taking a certain thickness off the head you don't know if it's already been skimmed at a guess your specs would of been pushing 12:1 , just recommending that if someone follows that advice to double check the compression ratio as it could be way too high for a milder camshaft ,

ps. have we talked you out of a pinto yet lol!!!

Call brian at Small Four Spares. I'm pretty sure he's got a 130bhp Pinto sitting around to be sold

His number is 02 9603 5333

OR you could put a Zetec in there with a 5spd Sierra gearbox. The 5spd will bolt straight up to it(including the Escort bell housing)

everyone talks of a zetec conversion is it really that easy?will a 7k budget get it on the road?sorry to hor the thread

7k will get you on the road if your able to do things yourself, and who you know and what spec you want.

If you payed someone else to do the complete conversion for you 7k wouldn't be enough

3k will get you most of the conversion parts of the shelf from burtons or similar. Dont spend more than $500 on a secondhand zetec.
minor fabrication will be required. will incur costs for engine management and fuelling.
