Hi guys, re doing all the leaks in my V6 engine/gearbox. Getting different info on gaskets etc. All advice welcome.
I believe head gaskets go on dry.  All other gaskets as in sump, timing cover, camshaft end gasket, water pump, exhaust, gearbox selector housing, Inlet manifold gasket???  Do all these need a bit of sealant as well or all go on dry? and if so what do yous recommend.  Thanking You PSR.

Head Gaskets dry with bolt holes cleaned and bolts oiled before torquing. I wouldn’t goo the head gaskets but all others a bit of sealant won’t hurt. Inlet gasket can be tricky depending on state of motor so do it dry with a bit of goo where cork is placed. You can always redo in a month or so if it’s not sealing.

inlet manifold is super important to get right because it can leak into the sump and you wont see it.  Pressure test the cooling system before you start up so if it is leaking internally you will find it before you throw water all through your engine.  If water gets in you can raise the car and drain the water which will settle to the bottom after a short while.  Ford manual says to use sealant.

And don't forget to radius the inlet port holes in the inlet gasket if you are using oval port heads, the amount of engines I see where they use the D port gasket straight out of the pack astounds me

I screw 4 threaded rods - in stead of 4 bolts, apply sealant to the heads etc, feed the intake gasket down over the rods, apply sealant to the manifold, slide it down over the rods, put the other 4 bolts in, remove the rods and finish
