Hi all,
I am eagerly waiting the arrival of my new window rubbers.
I need to figure out what is the best way to fit the rubbers.
Some people say to use soapy water
Others say something like armourall.
Should I use some Mastic sealant between the rubber and body ?
Can/should the side windows go in without sealant?

What has everyone else done?
What would you change should you have to do it again?

Thanks
Emil

I fit load of windows back in the day and we never used anything. just get some strong cord and put it between the gap in the rubber all the way around the window, overlapping around 30cm. Get a mate to help you place the window in the gap and get him to put gentle pressure on the screen. Now when you pull the cord from the inside it will pull the rubber into place over the metal lip. if it's not you need more pressure on the glass. this is a safe way of doing it.
check for leaks, if the bodywork is good you should be fine, but you can always squirt some sealer under the rubber later if need be. Hope this helps.

I do same as above tho I use undiluted dish washing liquid only to help the seal slide into place while pulling the cable/string out.
After its installed i usually squirt mastic non skinnng window sealer between the glass and seal, also between the body and seal ...only done on the front and rear screens, the side glass seals dont need mastic ..

Thanks,
Thats pretty much what I thought. Maybe a litle mastic especially inthe lower corners of the front and back windows.
I might have a little practice with the old rubber seals for fun.
