Well after 7 years of rip roaring fun, interspersed with short periods of disappointment and disillusionment my "mid life crisis" aspirational project car needs to find a new home. When I bought it in 2005 it was in great shape, a seasoned Collingrove and Mallala campaigner with almost good enough manners to be a daily driver. For a while there it was my daily, then I started to do the odd job here and there, got some twin sidedrafts, added electronic ignition, couple of race seats, some new wheels etc etc.
Circumstances ended up with me commuting 150kms a day so the escort was put aside for a while as a weekend car, then, putting my grown up head on, decided rego and insurance for a weekend car wasnt money well spent, so she spent a year or so laid up. Nature had her way and the paint suffered badly during this time, also the first and only rust started to appear at the bottom corners of the rear window.
My brother then needed some wheels and asked if he could get the beast up and running and use it, so he spent $600 and a couple of weekends putting a new clutch in, replacing welch plugs and cooling system components, and swapping the side drafts back for a downdraft weber for better driveability.
He has been driving the car for the past 8 months but a few weeks ago got in a tangle with a lady in a Mazda 3, culminating in the nice man from Shannons telling me that the car is a total loss. This is from their perspective of course, meaning that the amount they would have to pay to find one of the last panelbeaters left in Australia who can actually beat a panel instead of just screwing a new one on, was more than they would have to pay me to go away and leave them alone. Being Shannons they also gave me salvage rights, so I get to keep the old girl.
Given I now live in a place without a useable shed, and my job and life leave me no time for anything as ridiculous as time to enjoy myself or work on a car - Id like to offer this as a project car to somebody who will be able to bang out the dents and get this little ripper back on the road. Important point to note is - CAR IS NOT ON WOVR - you can fix and register online or walk in and off you go, in fact the car is driveable as is so you dont even have to fix it to be able to register and drive it, though I would highly recommend it.
Car was featured in UK Classicford magazine when they did a dyno day and shoot at KPM.

2L motor with weber 34ADM carby
4sp manual (chassis was originally auto so has big tunnel for sr20 etc)
