thought Id start a thread on my 2nd rebuild of this car. To cut a very long story short, I owned this between 1996 to 2000. In 97 I stripped and rebuilt it ( on a budget ) and entered it in summernats that year. I traded it in on a EB XR8 and regretted it straight away. Anyway around 2004 I started trying to track it down with no luck> Then in july 2011 I found it in sydney not far from a family member and bought it back.
Its the original colur and matching engine numbers. Im planning on a standard rebuild, no major mods. Just small stuff like electronic ignition , high torque cam, poly bushes and maybe an ATB lsd diff. Unfortunately it is completely flogged out and everything on it needs replacing plus its got some nasty body repairs and rust which need sorting out. Thats the first job ( all things going to plan it will be going to Jim at john newell smash ). The motor starts OK and runs really well so Im hoping the stripdown will show its in good nick and Ill just give it a hone, bearings/rings/seals etc. ( fingers crossed ) . Seats all need rebuilding/covering, dash pad is stuffed, carpet, gearshift, most switches, door trimsetc, etc!!!. At least its all complete, just buggered. The back left wheel has some weird positive camber so Im guessing the axle tube may be bent.
