First off would anyone build a pinto/yb without a sump baffle?

Also if the oil pick up was starved what part of the motor would noticeably suffer first.

Cheers fellas

I have no idea but if I had to guess id say the cam would lose oil first so cam/followers, but then again not sure if the cam/followers would be more succeptable to damage than the big end/crank bearings, I guess the weakest link will always fail first......

I'd call it as Bigends, then Mains, then Cams etc. A bigend would have about a second if that before it is knackered My std cossie 2wd sump was sufficient for trackdays and sprints...never had any issues, but I am running a gated baffle in the same sump for the new engine.

You never hear of cam bearing failures in Sprints - Its virtually always block / electrics that ultimately fails (after the big end seize and throw a rod out the side and knock the altenator off!!!!) Vote 2 - for bearings

As I said just guessing...

You may get away with it for a road car, but if it was my engine - I would do some baffles for it... even for a road car. You dont really want to find out the hard way do you ???

The Bottom end with suffer most as mine did, You can see the damage the bearing copped after a few secs of low oil pressure.
