Pass scrutineering this afternoon

The driving with the 4.8 diff is interesting - 100Km/hr is about 4000rpm in 5th gear, but it gets there quick...

For the WA boys the event starts tomorrow at the Speed Dome at 9am, and then moves to the Kwinana motorplex between midday and 5pm.

Finished - with a straight running car!

Two issues:
1) The starter motor wire fell off and I stalled in the garage at end of SS2 and couldn't start the car so got pushed out
2) Shredded the standard gearbox mount so we ran the second half of the event with gearbox ratchet strapped to the crossmember

Hopefully i'll have some results and better action photos tomorrow!

Full results are out! - I was second in class by 1.7 seconds. [8~2]

We hit one cone (5 second penalty), and I overshot one corner (looks like it cost us 11seconds).

Post rally check reveals number 4 accelerator jet not working, front left spring platform loose, and rear left mudflap worn away!

Next event this Sunday (State Sprint series):

How did it feel compared to last time you went out now you have the new diff and disks all round?

A lot more competitive!

The car now needs a more committed driver to make use of the uprated suspension, brakes, and tyres It took several stages to realise the amount of grip I had (even then I was probably conservative).

The diff is great - not very nice for highway use but great for acceleration off the line and out of corners.

After the disaster of the last event (and my first DNS/DNF) I finally pulled the car apart today. The idle has been erratic and i've had some strange fuelling issues.

I think these were the main culprit:

I also fund the #1 carby was leaking out past the bottom gasket. With the hi-comp head I've had trouble with the piston hitting the plugs and closing the electrodes. So i've now got adaptors and am running:

I did try some 8's but they also fouled badly during the last event.

Anyhow got it all back together with the carbies cleaned and re-kitted, new soft mounts, and my new strut brace:

Test drive tomorrow - next event is 8th of May.

What fuel are you running?

Paul,
Could you please post some pics of the handbrake cables set up if you have any available. Thanks

Fuel is 98RON with Nulon booster. With faulty needle and seats fuel has been running down the ports - so those softmounts have been soaking in fuel. It was the bottom in all cases that had degraded.

Handbrake set up is all R31 cables then adapted to the escort handle. I don't have any good pictures but will try to get some later. With the 205 R888's I have trouble locking the rears so will be going hydraulic in future.
