While i'm waiting for all my parts to arrive (which cleared customs on Sunday but still have not been delivered to my office) I decided to have a go at saving my original bonnet:


After a wire brushing, applied paint stripper:


Than got out the scotch pads:


Then a coat of rust killer:

The blue bit at the front is rusted through


Rebuilding the front inner is going to be fun:

Oh yeah - Hilux diff is fitted to:

So after many sleepless nights I have finally got the car back on the road. The Hilux diff and nissan calipers are all sorted, and I got the nissan handbrake cables working with the escort handbrake successfully.

On the front I have copied the bmw/mazda conversion:




The boot is organised with all the emergency spares:


So it's just about ready to roll

Did you machine the caliper mounting brackets? Are they bolt on?

Do you have any more to sell?????

BTW.. Car is look fantastic...

escortinadriver: The caliper mounts were 6061 16mm thick alloy with a 5mm spacer to the original escort mounts - real simple and yes bolt-on.
