Hi guys . Its probably a stupid question.       On top of my 72 GT manual gearbox there are 4 round holes that are about 1cm each. 3 are blocked and not really holes whilst the front nearside one is open to the inside of the gearbox. Is this supposed to be like this? Is this supposed to be a vent or have a grommet in it? Oil appears to be spurting out of it.  All advice welcome.
cheers PSR

I think that one has a metal thingo on it that allows the box to breathe- I'll check it out on the weekend

Thanks Spud, that's what must be missing from my gearbox. Thanks for the picture. Is the vent actually a 'vent' or is it just a blank metal cap covering the hole? Does it extend into the box?  cheers PSR

I think it's just a loose fit cap - never pulled one off - if u want I can

If you could try and remove it and let me know or photo it. Its just that I've never seen one and mines missing. I think its just the later models that have them. If I can get an idea what it looks like maybe I could make one up or just blank the hole up if it doesn't seem to be doing anything. Thanks again PSR.

Can't remove it - just a loose pressed metal cap - to act as a vent

Earlier models had a bent rubber tube. Went up then down. It just a breather for heat.
