G'day all,
I'm on the hunt for a new project car, prefer whole cars, matching numbers. I'm in WA but may consider an eastern states car if I have no luck here. Not bothered by rust or body condition as thats what I enjoy doing.
Narrowing down a list of cars as follows....

Sporting Fords...
Mk1 Cortina GT, early pre airflow. Mk2 GT or GT-L Cortina, 1970 onwards with the stipes and over riders. Capri GT.

Classic Fords...
Consul, Zodiac, Zephyr, prefer a convertible, may have a better chance of my chicken laying a golden egg though.

and the wild card...
Model T or similar...

Decent money paid on a sliding scale of condition or rarity.
Any leads, help, info or ideas appreciated...
Cheers Drew

Haha, in negotiations with the old man for the last spot in his garage.
Missed out on a Consul convertible, going to have a look at a Mk2 Zephyr wagon later on today.
Cheers Drew...

Keeping busy in the shed at the moment building an Indi 500 oddball/ dragster bike that the mrs (of all people) dragged home from the verge side collection, fun but not the same as a car... Haven't had any luck finding a new project via conventional methods so took to the rural areas about an hour north of perth for a good old fashioned car hunt today. Oh for a set of x-ray specs, there's hundreds of crusty sheds that would have to be holding some gold...
Anyway, there's still heaps of paddock finds, heres a couple...

Mk1 Transit camper, getting hard to find but I'd be living in it if I bought that home...

Taipan bodied VW, granddad would roll in his grave at the idea of a german car...

and then I stumbled across this... A Zephyr convertible, thats more up my alley!
It's been there a while, from what I can see all four tyres are flat, need to have a closer look, even if it's a basket case it'd be worth saving. I'm looking for a long term project anyway.
So now to put a plan together, I didn't go turning up, flano and boardies in my carpark dinged falcodore wagon, I'll head up the bank next week, get a wad of cash to wave and arrive in the Cortina, I may only get one shot at it so I'll put my best foot forward.
Trying not to think about it until then... Drew...

Your on the right track I reckon. People will keep there stuff until rats and roaches as well as rain and dirt bigger them until someone like you shows up with interest. I reckon when your in your budgie smugglers on your drive have a few pre done cards of your info fill the details of the car you see in the shed and ask them to call you. Less confronting for them and if you get a call you know there already set possibly to do a deal. Drop 10 cards and see what happens. Keith

best of luck Drew, a neat polite note with an offer to pay cash and saying you're a Ford lover might be an effective approach.....

If you get bored in the meantime there's always my son's van you can work on!    He's too busy studying for his exams to even drive the darned thing.

Thanks guys, yeah a note might be the way to go, if theres no reply I can door knock in a few weeks...
Took the Tickford out for another look this morning, dumb idea on wet, washed out rural roads. Spotted a TE X-pack Cortina in between bouts of opposite lock, still all there with its spoiler and volantes but WAY to far gone.
Heading country to the Northam flying fifty and british car day in Busselton in the coming weeks so I'll pin a wanted note to my back, worth a shot, people do it at car swapmeets
G'day Rob, just give me the word mate, keen on breaking out the welder or if theres anything else I can help with.
Cheers Drew...

Spent a bit more time on the rural roads this morning, no luck, although on a dead end road in the middle of nowhere this sign made me smile...  albeit nervously
