Hi guys, I really hope that someone can help me here.

The gear stick on my '72 TC Cortina broke today on the way to pick up my Dad for a fathers day lunch so I am in desperate need of a replacement.  She is a 4 speed car with a pinto engine

Cheers guys

Put up a picture of it if you can, so we can see what style shifter it is and where it broke. If it's an internal linkage box (where the shifter screws into the rear extension housing) measure across the plastic thread of the shifter where it screws into the box. There are a few different diameters.

The plastic ring or band or what ever it was that holds the plastic thread that screws to the box is what has broken so the shifter is no longer held in place when the thread is screwed into the box

According to my vernier calipers the thread is 41.5mm

Ok, I've found a couple which may suit. The one on the left measures 41.7mm and the one on the right 41.6. Sorry the photos aren't perfect.

As you'll see, the thread on the right one is better (the left one has had the bottom most section trimmed for some reason, but the remaining thread is still ok. The right one is curved and a bit shorter and the left is straight.

They are both missing the circlip that holds the cone shaped rubber boot down (which keeps the joint in tension), but you could just use the one from your broken shifter.

I'm happy to sell both together for $70, that way you could have a spare that would get you out of trouble in the short term.

Cheers
Jamie
