Hi Tex
1st time I started it with the megajolt - it has a sparodic misfire on 1 bank - a v6 - the leads and plugs  r ok - other than that it runs well (havent driven it yet). also - the megajolt program on my pc doesnt pick up the megajolt unit - the cable from the megajolt has a "phone line" type end on it - which i can plug into the pc but not sure thats the right way to go...

Hi Spud, pretty sure the phone port wont work, I bought an adaptor from trigger wheels with my kit and had a hell of a job trying to get it to talk to the computer. the megajolt is good but I am hopeless on the computer. here are a couple of sites to get info from.

yeah, i think the port is an r32 or serial port. agree with hendo, get it talking to your laptop and go over the map, these things are rock solid when running, so there should be no miss.

Thanks for the advice - its talking to the compter now - a wonderful thing! Trying to sort out a miss on one drivers side cyl - the coil pack is numbered 123465 - my engine firing order is 142536 - sooo wired it 1-1, 2-4, 3-2 etc - maybe i should be doing it different - not sure ....
iive set up a simple map up using figures from the ford workshop manual - the magajolt program for advance set up has a graph - engine load vs rpm - the ford manual has incremental increases in advance in line with rpm increases - looking at the magajolt graph - should i make compensations in advance along the load axis?

If I understand correctly try 1-5, 4-3, 2-6. Timing at idle should be 16-18 deg. At wot start at around 30 deg from 3500 rpm then incrementally add timing as the load decreases around there and higher rpm. Most important thing is to make sure timing is correct as read off the balancer with a timing light.

Thanks for that - the magajolt has a per set advance at 16 degrees - idle - but the manual puts it at 2 - why is that?
