Just fitted a new electonic dissy with igntion module and supplied coil , cars is running great all good accept the coil is very hot any thoughts there was no resister in the kit so i presume one would not be needed but am i wrong in presuming anything.

The ballast resistor is only to alter the coil voltage when cranking. With electronic you dont need one.
It wont be anything to do with the coil getting hot

it is normal for the coil to run quite hot.
good idea to have it in a spot with plenty of airflow. i have seen quite a few get cooked because they are hidden away where there is no airflow.
