I have a question specific to a Celica (W50) Steel Case 5 Speed gearbox with Dellow housing to suit the Escort...

There are 4 different shifter locations on the W50 Celica box (18", 19" 20.5" & 21"). Does anyone know which one(s) will align with the existing shifter hole in Mk2 Escort transmission tunnel, to avoid cutting the floor?

Hi Sean
I think I have the 20.5 and I moved the Zetec forward approx 40mm to centre the stick.
So, I think the 19" will be the one you want.
Mark (YBCOS) has the Celica box and I asked him the same question so I'm sure he can confirm.

Cannot remember which one, but the standard RA40 box position works fine in an Aussie Mk2 Shell.....  That basically what I have in my Mk2 with a Dellow conversion and has been going strong for 12 years once I sorted the clutch problems out over a few years...

Hi Sean,
Mate - Let me get under the car and tell you which one I have (20.5") likely.....I sit a long way back in the car so it suits to have the longer shifter position and cut a very small amount out of the back of the original hole...Sounds then like the 19" will be the one...

Thanks for the input guys. I need to do some measuring under my car too. My car has an auto shell, so not sure if the shifter hole is in the same position as a manual shell... or even if my trans tunnel has been modified at any point as I am not actually sure if Escort's had the same round shifter hole in floor whether they be auto or manual?
