Hi all,

Is anyone using the reproduction Mk2 escort tail light lenses?  If so, what are they like, do they fit well etc.?  Don't have much hope of finding NOS Ford units, so looking at the alternatives.

Thanks.

Hi Flighter,

Some have told me the Chinese repros are warped and don't seal properly. But maybe they are not fitting them correctly or the crappy cheap seals aren't working.
I have seen Italian reproduction lenses (not OEM Altissimo) a long time ago. These seem really high quality and may have been the Altissimo tooling reused with the OEM badging removed.

If you dig around it is still possible to find near perfect Altissimo and Butlers lenses.
Check out the for sale section of the forum. Errol Leslie advertised a week or so ago NOS lenses for a reasonable price.

Hi Flighter,

I got complete reproduction light assemblies out of a panel mob in Brisbane when doing my lights. The crappy seals do stop them from fitting properly but the main issue with some repro stuff is that the colour in the lenses fades really badly, especially with high UV levels in some areas. The lenses in the donor car I was using were almost white, the colour in them has just bled out.

Ugh - doesn't sound good, so thanks for the feedback. I guess I'll have to clean up my existing ones in preference to shiny new repros.  I didn't see that Errol Leslie had any NOS lenses, unless they are sold already.
