Hi guys I seen a post on here awhile ago about using a 15mm alloy spacer on a 35mm mount to take away bit of the engine flex in 2 litre eskys ive got me spacers and my new 35mm mounts from smcka to find out that im now short on thread... just wondering what others have done to extend the thread? Or other options around

Must be missing something, but how would a spacer reduce flex? Thought you would use a spacer to get some clearance between the sump and crossmember back, more so if your using old stretched mounts, the wrong thickness mount or your xmember mounts have spread apart, else why would you want to lift the old lump higher up.

The shorter mount is what reduces the flex.  The spacer is to give back the sump clearance.

What side of the bracket are  you attempting to fit the spacer?  It needs to be between the bracket that bolts to the block and the rubber mount NOT between the mount and the crossmember.

Also, 15mm is too thick.  Mine are 12mm which could also be part of the issue.

I also use a flat 2mm steel plate between the rubber mount and the cross member

I bought the 35mm mounts from Smcka too and found that once they have the 15mm spacer (3x 5mm spacers in my case) there is no longer enough thread to use safely use them. I decided to leave the 50mm ones in until i could find a solution.

I want to add that the mounts from Smcka were very well priced and very good quality, it was my fault for not considering that i might need extra thread length.

The mounts i used are 35mm rubber and are from a 6 cylinder TD/TE/TF Cortina
