Hi guys, just a quick one ..
I need new oil line .. fittings are good, just need the line. No braided bling, just the original nylon/poly type.

Anyone know what size it is and where it is available? Auto parts retailers or industrial supply outlets?

Any direction would be appreciated.

GG.

It's been a while, but I used to buy different types of plastic tubing from Dotmar, although that was in bulk.  A short length might be tough, but try them if you get desperate.

Let us know how you get on too; I need a new line myself.

The rs oil line is bigger than aftermarket gauges and hard to find similar locally. I ended up getting 1 from burtons last year with a t piece so i could run an idiot light as well. Wasnt without pain though, although i called and discussed my needs, the fittings sent were imperial thread, possibly mk1 or uk spec.I ended up going direct to lma who supply to burtons to get the correct fittings for our gauge. Sorry recently cleaned up and threw out the info with correct sizes.

Would Pirtek or EnZed have what you need?

Hi GG,
Is this the oil line from the block to the oil gauge in an RS?  If so I have an old one that I don't use cos I use an electric gauge for mine. You're welcome to it if you can use it. Should only cost a couple of bucks for postage.

Len,
yes that's exactly what I was refering to .. thanks anyway but I managed to source some suitable tubing. Thanks very much for the offer.

Thanks also for all the replies. I was leaning towards the fuel injection hose but eventually found some line which is suitable. It looks to be of a similar material to the original line but a bit thicker wall thickness/outside diameter. Despite this, being new it is more flexible so was a good easy fit.

(I was getting pretty sick of being told of potential solutions but that it wasn't worth them getting it in cos they would have to order x metres/rolls/whatever of it in .. Anyway .. whinge over!)

Surprisingly even Howard Instruments here in Melb had nothing suitable.

Anyway, job done.
GG.

I tried an old Autometer line I had and it fit the gauge in my MK1 six dial dash. Just saying

Eventually found some line at Pirtek .. as I mentioned above, thicker wall/larger o.d. than original but that's not critical and better in terms of mechanical strength. Pressure rating exceeded requirement .. and it seemed to be the same material so should be OK with oils. Only question was about temp rating but I boiled a piece for a while and it did not seem to soften at all.

Engine started and ran OK (after a long rest) and the oil gauge read so it's all good. I fit clamps on both ends and will keep an eye on it, especially after the first few runs.

Anyway .. I think all good.

I tried to attach a pic but for some reason can't ..
