Can I get opinions on what would suit better - Megajolt vs Electronic Distributor.
 
I can get the Megajolt system complete for around $500 on eBay UK and the Electronic Distributor costs around the same here in Oz form the like of SMCKA etc.
 
Obvioulsy the Megajolt is user adjustable to fine tune the engine but for someone with limited programming knowledge (i.e. none) how hard is it to get it running properly.
 
I really don't know a lot about the Megajolt system other than what I have read so woul dlove some opinions from those who are running it.

I use it on my zetec, it allows you to see the tuning of your ignition map. For me it was a no brainer for a zetec on carbs as it is fully compatible, crank fired ignition = good. 
Pinto will need more work, as you can imagine with trigger wheels, coils, edis module etc.
Given good engineering to mount the trigger wheel it should be ultra reliable.
Megaholt was more difficult to setup than previous elec distributor/MSD procomp combo I had.
But once its done its easy to experinment with ignition maps. Plus they can sense load (map) or tps.
worth the little extra affort and not as expensive or hard as efi.

I am using R1bike carbs that have a TPS so as you say with a little more effort setting up the megajolt and a steep learning curve they would be a good option.

i think dissy's cost around 150 to get regraphed, so if you plan on changing in the future it would end up cheaper with megajolt as it can be changed for free, but may be an issue with dyno tuners being unfamiliar with the software

I have had dissy's regraphed in the past but I really want electronic ignition.
 
Sounds like Megajolt is the way to go provided the Dyno guy understands it.

Matt, I used unigroup and couldn't be happier. Its pretty basic really and yavuz figured it out quickly and got good results. Also plenty of maps out there on the web to get a solid starting point. Suggest printing the tuning guide , get familiar with it and take it with to the dyno.
