Hi,

I'm interested in opinions for a replacement 4 speed gear lever to suit an Escort.  I once had a reduced throw adapter on a standard lever, but it felt too notchy so I removed it.  I accept that a reduced throw shifter is probably all I'll be able to get these days (unless somebody knows otherwise) so I guess I'm really seeking opinons on which has the smoothest action.

Thanks in advance.

They come up on ebay from time to time, but there are few different thread diameters depending on the box.

Capri clinic do exchange shifters, or sell other bits to fix them.  Exchange shifters are about halfway down the linked page:

The factory RS shifter is probably the best one.  There are Quaife shifters available and they are great for solid feel etc but as they are a rose joint they ALWAYS rattle which is extremely annoying if its a road car

That's good advice, as I couldn't stand a noisy one.  Thank you everyone who responded.
