Ok - well i thought i would make a start sooner than later.
This is my esky. it was my second car. I drove it for a bout 10 years before pulling it to bits. I then took off east for about 5 years and so in all it's been sittin around for about ten years.
Overdue!
This was it in it's prime - or at least not long after i got it.

Then the work began.

So i had it bored , i put in forged pistons, i lightened each connecting rod 200gms and balanced them, then i had the crank balanced and shot peened along with the rods.
The fly wheel was balanced and doweled.
I ported the head, 40mm, i went too far on the first and had to start again - that was unpleasant - it took me like 2 months to do one!
I cc'd it - man it was funny asking the vet for the biggest syringe they had
I had (is it David) white make me some custom flat back wasted stem SS valves.
Put in bronze guides, steel seats, heavy springs and long pad followers.
I got a custom cam made, .473 thou lift with 40 deg overlap and had it cross drilled.
some gilmer drives and a adjustable cam wheel.
Now i have an electronic points set.

It's a bit dusty.

I also have a 5 speed sierra box which i fitted up just before stripping it all.

So cross fingers it all works.

Now onto the car.

Apart from the customary rust as seen, there was little else even though it had the vinyl roof. I cut the rust out and welded some material in and now she is repainted in "blue print".

Even got my wife working!

so I've pulled the front end out and am cleaning and sandblasting and painting stuff.
I got some adjustable TCA's.

Today i found out something.
I bought some Koni yellows for the front and on going to fit them .. well .. they didn't.
It seems for some inexplicable reason i have 1600 struts! [xo]
So now i am having to find some 2L ones and think now i will head down the coil over path while i am at it.

So i think that's it for now and I'll ad as i go.
Thanks.
Darren.

So i located some 2L struts.
Now they are cut,

and prepped for the coil overs. Looooove my sandblaster.

Ok - Coil overs in place. I hope i can adjust it up a bit coz she's quite low and i have the engine to put in yet [8~2]

Everything is all in now including braided lines. Now for the M/C.
I have acquired a Willwood 5/8's to run without booster.

Ok - Master fitted.

Strut tops.

And twin thermo fans.

So i finally finished and installed my blade fuse conversion. - Yay.

Ok a little premature but i haven't got to put anything up for a while. It has been quite a job but the rear disk conversion is nearly complete. The disks are ford focus disks unsing a Nissan silvia s13 caliper.
I removed the diff and sanblasted and painted it. Put some nolathane in.

The tramp rods have been fitted.
I had to make new mounts for the sway bar coz the tramps got in the way.
Still making the handbrake adaptor.
Oh and i shifted the hand bake back about an inch to give the shifter on the 5speed a little more breathing space.

I also fitted the wilwood 4 pots to the front.

Yaaaay - big day today. For the first time in 14 YEARS!!!!! the engine is in!!!

It was a hard choice on the day but i had seen this colour on the falcons for a while and really liked it so i went with what i knew i liked.

I sorta figured with TCA's but then there not gonna like the carbies iether so i guess it'll be a bit o work if i get sticked but there ya go.
I kept the oldies just in case.

I swear i remember seeing this Escort around back in the day. Looks like it's starting to take shape, top effort. Where did you get the gilmer drives from.
Cheers

Do you know i don't even remember now. I followed an ad in the paper and ended up at this little workshop and when i went in he had a little glass cabnet with roller followers in there. I beged him to sell them to me but he wouldn't. I tried to find a set from england but couldn't get a response from the place so i gave up [:-(]
But thats where i got them from. I am almost certain it wass ERR but i can't be sure. I have to find a belt for them now. And a thermo fan.

Hey brad - i see you have an injection project. I built a manifold and throttle assembly which i wanted to use the wolf 3D with but i han't the money for it at the mo. But here is what i built. It's a flat slide so theory is it will have an empty bore on full throttle. I also put a hole down the lenght of the mani and drilled weber jets into it to descreetly run NOS through [:x)]
Even bought RX7 injectors for two stage fuel delivery.

I suppose once you measure the length try ebay, or ask this fella,http://www.google.com.au/search?q=gilmer+belt&hl=en&prmd=ivnsfdo&source=univ&tbm=vid&tbo=u&sa=X&ei=KnKgTa-FAYPEvgOrgvH8BA&ved=0CHkQqwQ. With the drives, I'll ask Tony next time i'm down there and see if he remembers selling them, i don't remember seeing them there (in the infamous glass cabinet)but that doesn't mean they weren't there. That's an awesome idea with the manifold, have you seen it done before. Even if it hasn't been done before, doesn't mean it won't work. Imo it looks like it should. May have to sort out something to keep the slide lubricated, a couple of grease nipples tapped into the top and bottom should do it. I can grab some from work if you want, what is the thickness of the metal that the slide runs through (for the thread length). I just have the Sierra injection, with (i think) Mitsubishi injectors. I want to change the computer before i get it going, unsure to what though. Anything will be better than the stock one, with the 6400 rev limiter. One day i'll get around to taking some photo's of my mk1 and putting them on here and i'll list the rest of the stuff i have in it, one day i may even finish it.[88]

I got those drives like 10 years ago hey!
I was going to run a slice of teflon in there to keep the friction down or alternatively some bronze grease but i will not be able to run this for some years i think - houses to buy u know.
The idea stemmed from bein around bike that have flat slide carbies and no i have never seen this before.
One day i'll get to try it.
