Shaun,

Yeah he did pay a visit. I count myself lucky the pipes are in one piece considering the photos Danny showed me. I've also got a nice set of new front springs too.

Chippa,
Cheers Mate.

Having a little one is the best thing in the world. Luckily i have a 'job' where i do weird hours and that alone is letting me get into the garage. If i did 9 til 5 i wouldn't have a hope.

I should be out working on her again on Friday. Fingers crossed.

I've taken off the passenger side A pillar external panel as it had been repaired rather poorly prior to me getting the car. I'm getting a replacement sent from the UK. Should be here in a couple of weeks.

I've also done some patch work to the boot seal lip.

Pics later, once i remove all the baby photos from the camera and make some space for car pics.

Passenger side A pillar has been partially removed. I'm waiting for a part from the UK so i can replace this bit. Should be here in early December.

I've got the patches cut to replace the plenum chamber area. I just haven't gotten around to welding it in yet.

2 litre strut part stripped for the first time in at least 15 years.

A very low km reco steering rack attached to a new world cup x member.

A heap more bits ordered tonight including a pedalbox and some to pick up next week. I should be able to put the rear axle back together next week for when i drop the shell down off the rotor.

Next decision is dampers as the front and rears will need replacing.

Actual progress! I got sick of removing paint and cutting metal so I bolted on the rear brake kit I got from Mk1Lotus to my original 2L rear axle. It was 99% bolt on. I only had to get the angle grinder out once to give the axle casing a little bit of a rub so the drivers side caliper would bolt on.

Other than that, I had a moment of trouble removing the axles from the casing but then i remembered a very helpful hint of bolting a tyre to the hub then belting it with a rubber mallet. Worked like a charm.

I've got a full set of poly bushes to go in the rear springs and hangers. Only thing left for the rear end to be done is a new set of dampers which should hopefully arrive from the UK in Mid December.

Oh. One more thing. I need to replace the rear wheel studs. The standard ones may be fine with the thin face of the drum but put a disc on the hub and there ain't much left to bolt onto.

New longer rear studs have arrived and are being fitted this week along with some new rear wheel bearings.

My pedalbox has arrived and is stored awaiting some more body repairs. Panels are in transit and should be here on Friday if all goes well. That means i can get the welder out again. I'm also making up a set of body stands so i can transfer the shell off the rotisserie without putting the suspension back in and without the shell resting on the ground.

My spare rear quarter is in for the chop on Thursday as a trial fitment for the rear arches and to provide me with some rust replacement panels for the drivers side C pillar area. (that's why i bought it in the first place).

Time to be a little more serious about the project. I've been stuffing around for too long.

Mental note: Don't roll up sleeves when welding, regardless of temperature in the garage. Stupid sunburnt arm.

Oh, apparently the stand i'm building is also called a dolly. It'll let me remove and replace the front panel and the slam panel.
