A quick update.
Painting is finally all done so i've started to bolt things back to the shell.
Passenger door is complete and fitted.
Capri fuel tank is in but needs to be piped and wired in.
Boot lid, spoiler and latches are done.
Rear bar is on with number plate lights in.
Rear wiring loom in and connected. All rear lights in.
Front loom in but needs new connectors to hold it in place.
Headlight buckets fitted.
Heater box in with vents fitted. Controls bolted on and surround fitted.
Steering column in. Steering lock removed. New quick release steering hub fitted.
 
I'll put up some pics when it stops raining.

Is that the standard rear bumber you have painted black with the rubber strip still on it or is it one of the rally pack bumpers?
 
You must get a lot of satisfaction watching it come back together again after so long.

That's a proper rally pak bumper. It and the front quarters are off a very rusty rally pack that i've been using for parts. Having a complete donor car makes reassembly much easier especially when you can't find little bits and pieces.
 
The doors are now fully back together with all fittings in place. Wiring loom is 80% in with the remainder on the cards for tomorrow. I'm making the rear interior panels on Saturday then I pull out the spare rear end and put the proper one then start fitting the engine.

I hate wiring. Spent a great deal of the day trying to figure out what wire is what under the dash. Doesn't help that my workshop manual is missing the wiring diagram. Did find out that the long wire i couldn't work out was the park brake switch.
 
So i gave up on that and started fitting the bits under the rear side windows. I should have stuck to the wiring. The car has a great roll cage, unless you need to work on the interior. Stupid cars. Who's idea was this in the first place?

Keep it up.  The remaining 5% is the hardest to get through.

Trouble i was having with the wiring is that my project car is a hybrid of about three cars and nothing is really factory anymore. There are a couple of dash connectors that I couldn't figure out. One will be a radio power connector. The others i'm still not sure of but won't be using them anyway.
Trying to fit the alloy rear cards was a huge PITA but they're screwed and sikaflexed in now plus the passenger seat is in.
Picking up a couple of bits from the powdercoater tomorrow so i haven't given up uet.
