Installed the rear valence skid plate today. The panel needed a little bit of a trim to make it fit. Probably not necessary but I'd rather spend the time and weld it in than have to replace the rear valence if it got snagged on anything.

Only trouble was while I was underneath welding I spotted a nice little column of light coming through the boot floor. So out with the grinder and off with the paint.

Which revealed one pin hole and a thin spot. Both got some pad welding which should fix the rot nicely.

Seeing as the welder was on hand I did the plug in the spare wheel well.

Then out with the can of zinc paint for a quick spray.

I'm nearly out of mig gas again. Need to visit BOC soonish.

Spent some more time in the sauna today. Didn't get much done though. Did some paint stripping with the grinder, welded up the interior C pillar holes, ran out of MIG gas and bought three sample colour pots. Painting is getting close so I'm getting close to needing to choose a colour.

Well, I was thinking about just running the car as polished metal with a clearcoat, kinda like a DeLorean. [:x)]

Yeah. The whole car will be painted, just not sure when. I'm going to make some enquiries about the roll cage next week which might slow things down a little. I'm also going to order the four link body brackets, diff cover and turrets soonish too. I think i'll have them all installed before I go to the trouble of painting the car.

Today's after lunch job is welding the front, slam and wing panels back on and hopefully starting on the front arches.

Hey Steve, do you want a spare drivers door for nicks?

I have one here that came off the green car that has some fairly minor gravel rash on it from when i laid the car on its side back in its autocross days.

Still has all the glass in it too.

Im moving this weekend and have no need for it as my new shell is a 4 door.

Give me a buzz if you want to come and get it

Cheers for that G.

Today's work. I've started putting the front end back together. First was to refit the bonnet, then using all my vice grips to hold the front, slam and wing on to test the alignment and gaps.

(just realised that this photo shows the full extent of the complete lack of room I have to work in. Can't beat working in a 1/2 car garage)

Since i've replaced the A pillar, I need to drill new holes for mounting the wing.

Got the underbody gun out and gave the inner wing a good coating of sealer, along with my leg, the floor, the airline and the gun. Very messy job.

Welding started with the slam panel. I used a couple of tacks to hold the panel in place then drilled a heap of holes and plug welded it on.
