I am after the timing belt pulley that goes on the crankshaft to suit a YB Cosworth

Hi Geoff,

Alloy ones are easily sourced in the UK...I just ordered a stack of alloy pulley gear, Im sure the guy that I got my bits from does them for around 30 pounds. I'd run an original one though if you can source one.

Did you end up getting a timing belt?

Cheers,

Phil.

Pozformance have ordered one in for me(belt). as for the pulley I was hoping to pick up a second hand one from someone off the forum.
Starting to get a bit costly with all the parts I have had to source. Still need rods and pistons yet.

Hi Geoff,

If its N/A you could run a set of Spool Rods, there are alot of guys doing builds with these in the UK without issues. From memory they are about 100g lighter per rod than std rods and cost about the same as a set of cossie rods with new arp bolts Its all relevant to what you want to spend

I got my last Dayco belt through Bursons for about $45.

Cheers,

Phil.

Thanks Phil, I was actually thinking of the Spool Rods.
Can you give me the Dayco part number on the belt.

...The required rods are directly related to the RPM you intend to use as in N/A it is the acceleration/deacceleration of the the piston at high RPM that puts the most strain on te rod and not the force from the power produced...I spent $2600 for a long rod and very short piston combination to reduce the rod angle and piston mass for the high rpm application...Std cossie rods are good, as Phil suggested there are definitely other options. I use the Dayco belt too...

Mark... It is not going to be a race or big rev engine so I think the Spool rods would be fine. I have read in a number of places that you can use a standard crank pulley for the timing belt if you space it out a bit, but they are different pitch to the cossie cam pulleys. what are your thoughts on this Mark & Phil
