The Perana was made in 4cyl shells when they ran out of 6cyl shells towards the end of production. So yes Basil did. Those would be higher build numbers of BG400 and above. Also though people could take their cars to him for the conversion so it is possible. The only real way is the floor tag stamped on alloy plate and riveted to the cross brace under passenger seat. That should match the two tags in the engine bay. The chassis number is stamped on the shock tower on passenger side. The owner is or was part of Capri club Victoria. He sold a Cortina Perana to someone who contacted me about its authenticity and we worked out through South Africa that it too was the real thing although the motor had water in pistons and the seller refunded enough money to rebuild it.

A pic of the under passenger seat tag and real Perana tag. Their is also a Ford Company tag that numbers should match with then the body stamp on passenger shock tower.

Adding to this topic and should help. All South African V6 Capris did not have the V6 battery indent making them seem like a 4cyl shell. Everything else like front V6 supports Angle brace at servo etc were as V6. This is why many look at Perana and say it's reshelled. So it is harder to copy a real Perana in Australia with our V6 bodies as they were different to SA V6 bodies. Hope that clears that up.
