Hey guys. I'm about to install an 85A bosch alternator on a pinto. The car is still wired for the dynamo. I found a useful link here.
http://www.seoc.co.uk/alternator.htm
I was wondering if most people completely remove the current voltage regulator from the firewall or leave it in place and rehash the wiring?
Thanks

Haydn,

It would be  better to remove all old wiring and regulator, becauce if you have trouble in the future it will be easier to fault check.
Peter.

There's a good link here with photos on turbosport http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthread.php?131068-Pinto-Rewiring-Help-Urgently-Needed&highlight=mk1+alternator+conversion
but Dave is not sure about the red wires at the regulator. I have three reds there too. The red dynamo wire "D" gets disconnected.

Haydn,
We can work out the wiring when you call round.
Peter.
