hey guys ive run into the limit of how far i can safely wind out my outer tierods, as i have widened the track on the front of my mk2
just wondering if anyone has found a replacement outer tie rod or rack end that is a fair amount longer say 30-40mm??
or is there an option of running rack end spacers like the guys with jap cars do, not really the best option but im willing

I have seen some tie rod extenders somewhere that are designed just for your scenario.  They are used in conjunction with the adjustable tierods for when you run out of adjustment.

I'll have a look and come back to you.

May have been rally design or somewhere.  Maybe SMCKA.

Cheers

If you have enough cash order a heavy duty steering rack from grp4fabrications. They come with longer rack ends as standard and should be what your after. Not cheap though.

If you can find someone with the correct tapered ream you can ream out the steering arms and use TE/TF Cortina tierod ends....these will give you and extra 10-15mm.

Aren't Capi mk1 tie rods longer than Escort, they are imperial thread tho...if that matters ..
2nd thorts, put the whole Capri rack in there !

thanks for all the suggestions, might see if i can find a catalog, and compare some specs, the tie rod ends are m14 not sure about what thread the inner rack ends are would probably prefer to run a longer rack end.

I found that by using the tie rods extenders it messed with my castor to the point I had to remove them, my front spoiler is not factory so the tires rubbed but it could cause issues with the Rally Pack front spoiler. My strut tops are camber adjustable only.
With castor adjustment up top it may be possible to set it up with no rubbing.

Hey Rhys. I also have camber only tops but run them turned in the strut tops so that they adj both by half. I also have the same issue with my tyres rubbing on my front spoiler. So I'm not at the point of slotting strut top holes to gain extra castor.
